For mailing and handouts, the light weight and convenience of a business card or other mini CD can be a big benefit. Although you might expect a mini CD to be less expensive than a regular round CD, that is not the case. So there is a tradeoff in balancing convenience with cost. For most applications, business card CDs are made by molding a regular round CD and cutting away the excess material. That way they are produced on the same molding and printing lines as regular CDs.
